Designed and handcrafted in Dorchester County, Maryland by Lynn Stavdal

The Sika deer (also known as a Marsh Ghost) is a member of the Elk family and originates from Yakushima Island in southern Japan.  The exotic elk made their way to Dorchester County, MD (by way of Europe) in the early 1900s.  A local named Clement Henry released six sika deer on James Island in 1916 and the population has grown immensely over the past 100 years.
